Celebrates 50 years

REFLECTION ON MY GOLDEN JUBILEE OF RELIGIOUS LIFE

My 50th year celebration of my religious life is a significant milestone of a personal journey interlaced with peaks and valleys in my development, adventure among diverse cultures, and growth in my spirituality.  I have had multiple careers in teaching, human service programs, community organizing, and pastoral work in the U.S. mainland, Hawai’i, Micronesia, Philippines and Kenya.  I have interacted with urban peoples and rural communities of many ethnic and cultural backgrounds emerging the richer for these unique experiences.  All along, my faithful companion and God provided energy, stimulation, motivation, and support through good friends and loving communities, but especially during our quiet times together.  How blest I am!

Current Ministry:  Director of Kenya Water Project under the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in St. Paul, MN.  Sponsored by the US Rotary Clubs, she organizes villages and institutions in various districts of Kenya to plan projects for clean and safe drinking water and facilitates and trains local water committees to assess needs, plan and budget for these water projects.

Past Ministries:  Educator in the Dioceses of Los Angeles and Honolulu; Social worker in the Diocese of St. Louis, MO; Parish life ministries in various parishes and associate director for Office for Social Ministry in the Diocese of Honolulu; grant writer; community organizer; director of various community-based initiatives for youth; fund raiser for various youth projects; and consultant to and board member for numerous justice related associations, alliances, committees, etc.
